No rest …

Posted by floatingman on August 9, 2008

Well I’ve done it. I’ve finished my fourth and final project. You may have noticed there was not a post for my third project and that’s because it is just awful. Basically it is a remake of my second project with networking added. Let me just say it did not go well. Luckily the professor was still impressed.

Now this final project might blow your socks off, so be sure to have your seatbelts fastened before playing it. Here’s the link.

Now understand, I only worked on this program for a couple of days so if it zigs when you zag don’t get upset. I’m lucky I demonstrated it before this guy did.

Greetings from the void…

Yay! Project 2 of my masterpiece is finished. You can play this unbelievably awesome game. Just download and extract and start with “python main.py”. Like my former friend, future enemy mentioned in my last post you will need pygame installed to play it.

Wow! It’s like moving man.

Finished my first project for my Game Development class. Here it is if you want to run it. Of course you have to have python installed. Just untar it, run python main.py and prepare to be awesified.

My friend pointed out a tiny little thing you must do to run the game. You must have the pygame module installed to run it, but hey any serious gamer should already have that. Ha ha ha.

And now for your regular news broadcast

Posted by floatingman on June 21, 2008

Finished Angel-A last night. It is a modern remake of It’s a Wonderful Life, except French and Clarence is replaced by a 6 foot blonde woman. The movie was good, which was a surprise to me because lately I have rented movies, thinking they were going to be good and they weren’t.

In other news, I learned that Sheldon Brown, website here, had died earlier in the year. He had a website about all things bicycle and I would frequent it whenever something broke on my bike. He also had a penchant for keeping a daily log of his life, which has inspired me to post more regularly to my blog.

I am going to try to post more regularly, nothing major, probably just a few paragraphs, about the daily goings on in my life.

Oh in other, other news, I’ve rediscovered UT2004 and the many mods that are made for it. Gentoo has very good support for the game making it easy to install new mods.

Part of the Team

Posted by floatingman on November 5, 2006

So I bought Battlefield 2142 the other
day.  I know what your saying. “GAME REVIEWS!! UUGGHH!”
I assure you there’s no need for the use of caps lock or MOEPs, which
is an acronym I just made up this second for Massive Overuse of
Exclamation Points. I will not go into the details of how the
antroscopic filtering works seamlessly with the anti-aliasing
providing smooth edges to the textured graphics.  Noooo, I will
not even mention that stuff.  I would like to focus on the
social aspect of the game.

Now I know there are “social”
games like WOW, Guildwars and the Hello
Kitty Online Game
, but first person shooters or FPSs can also be
a social experience.  I have a buddy list, there’s voice chat,
my “character” has goals and objectives to achieve.
I’m telling you it could be like another full time job and like a
full time job you don’t have to spend your time killing people or
“doing actual work”, you can stand around and shoot the
bull.  Now if the game actually had an animated bull to shoot
that would be one thing, but I’m using the phrase as a euphemism
You don’t have to be a violent person to play this game.  You
can be a lover and not a fighter.  You could have even been a
contender…  Wait. Stop. Focus.  I really like walking
around healing people and better yet you get points for doing that
too.  I don’t want to color this game a lovely shade of
periwinkle, you will get killed, stabbed, xploded, and face squatted
or “tea bagged” as it’s lovely called, but it’s ok, you’ll
be back at it in 15 seconds handing out daisies and smoking with your
buds on the loading dock.

So in conclusion, don’t write off
the game because it boast computer requirements that rival NASA’s, or
has graphics so real that I actually bleed when shot.  There is
more than one dimension to this 3-D FPS.  There is heart. There
are a bunch of brave men and one woman in a squad called the
Bloodfilled Anal Fissures and I’ll meet  you guys as soon as I
get off of work.

Dismissed
